My first flight to Jaipur

The moment when I reached the level of clouds, I felt that am in a heaven.

I was really excited as this would be my first flight. Ten years back when my economic conditions were not good, I never dreamt that flying in an aeroplane would be possible. But I always dreamt big and had this strong belief that I have to do something big in life. I used to admire and follow Kalpana Chawala as role model.

I was not surrounded by many people who supported in my endeavors but I was of the positive hope that someday I will overcome obstacles in life. Truly now I got the capacity to face obstacles no matter how big and small they are. My destiny put me into a NGO sector for the role of Communication Officer and in a matter of ten days of joining, I along with manager were asked to land in Jaipur for a workshop.

I knew that the workshop was important and also knew that it’s an official trip, so not much time for all those crazy things. But what made me feel happy was that the journey would be in a flight. I was like ‘WoW’ that’s going to be really great.

Long ago in school days, I used to pass by Begumpet airport to reach my aunts place. Being a frequent visitor, I used to enjoy the view of aeroplanes and radars. I dreamt of being a pilot and as well become an astronaut, but later I understood that eye sight plays a very important role in deciding your fate. Now again, seeing the planes I once again reminisce my dream.

The plane was delayed for fifteen minutes and then we have to move in a shuttle to reach the plane which was near the run way. I was able to see number of planes moving here and there. Within no time, I entered the plane and then the instructions started how to wear a mask and also suit in case of a danger.

Somehow, MH-370 Malaysian plane came into my mind. What if, something goes wrong and the plane jumps into ocean? Oh My God! I dint even learn swimming and am equally scared of coldwater. I regret for not learning swimming when my university provided that opportunity. That moment I prayed to all gods that I should not meet watery death.

And then, the flight began to move. I was told by couple of friends that while the flight takes off, definitely it would give a jerk and I was very badly scared. Within no time I was in the air and my manager said, “Amoga, now you are in the air”. I was not that excited but as the plane started moving high I was surprised to notice small buildings and structures. Rivers and lakes as small as in a text book and slowly even the big fields appeared like a small square box. Altogether it was like a Farmville in Facebook”.

The moment when I reached the level of clouds, I felt that am in a heaven. Passing through clouds reminded movies of 80s and 90s where a sudden white smoke appears on the stage and etc etc. Also not to forget movie of Sridevi and Chiranjeevi, “ Jagadeka veerudu, athiloka Sundari’. There is a famous song, ‘Andaalalo ahomahodhayam, anandame….’. in that particular song, one can notice the hero and heroines jumping from one cloud to another. And here am passing through these clouds.

‘Cotton balls’ is what came to the mind, the moment when we went above clouds. Those things that appear in various unstructured forms from the Earth, are now small marbles and I feel like collecting them in my hands and play. Seeing the clouds imaginatively is something that I do since childhood days. I saw a Mickey mouse sitting on the front. And then we passed and came Ravan on his chariot moving ahead of us. We go a little distance and see small part of sky shining in golden yellow and brown giving a spectacular view.

Just then, the pilot announced that we would be passing through clouds as there is a rainfall. I had a wish that I have to see the clouds and also the rain and it became true. It was raining and was able to differentiate between the places where it was raining and then not. Viewing a ‘Rainbow’ from up above the sky is something that has to be cherished and enjoyed. Those multicolored lines and the raining clouds were like a waterfall and I was asusual enjoying it. At the sametime, I prayed to God, that there should not be any lightning or thundering and it did not occur.

And then we kept moving, for a minute I took rest and my sir informed that we would be landing in a short time. I was surprised the way time flied. The first sign that reminds you about Jaipur is the pink colored buildings. I was surprised that how come all these structures look identical and also in the same color, then I was reminded of ‘Pink City’. Truly, viewing them that way was really lovely. Time was ticking and pilot announced the landing. Again I was scared, this time for flight landing. I saw many videos in which aeroplane crashed at landing due to a problem in tyre. Sitting next to the window, I was more curious and was eagerly watching the run way if it is really safe to land in. Then I finally landed in Jaipur and thus my first flight journey ended peacefully.
